Emily Rogalski, PhD, Rosalind Franklin PhD Professor in the Department of Neurology
Emily Rogalski, PhD, is a clinical and cognitive neuroscientist researching aging, Alzheimer’s, and related dementias. Her investigations use a multimodal approach focused on two aging perspectives: primary progressive aphasia (PPA), in which neurodegenerative disease invades the language network, and SuperAging, in which 80+-year-olds are resistant to memory decline associated with typical cognitive aging.
Dr. Rogalski also leads the University of Chicago Healthy Aging & Alzheimer’s Research Care (HAARC) Center. The HAARC Center builds deep multidisciplinary expertise and bridges the gap between scientific disciplines to accelerate breakthroughs in cognitive resilience. The HAARC Center brings together neuroscientists, geneticists, clinical neurologists, psychiatrists, neuropathologists, radiologists, data scientists, immunologists and more to advance research and patient care.
Aging and dementia now top the list of health concerns among Americans surveyed, surpassing even cancer, heart disease and stroke. Gifts in support of Dr. Rogalski’s work on PPA, SuperAging, and for the HAARC Center play a critical role in accelerating breakthroughs for patients and families afflicted by neurodegenerative diseases.
