Welcome to Barb, Christine and Tara's page for Comer Children's
Christine, Tara and Barb have been members of the Comer Development Board for many years and are passionate about the work they do and the population they serve. We believe Comer Children’s serves a critical need: providing life saving (and more routine) clinical care to children across Chicago, including children in our most under-served communities. We have the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center on the South Side. At the same time, Comer Children’s attracts top medical talent an patients form across the globe due to its ground-breaking medical research and highly ranked specialists.
UChicago Medicine has been relatively risk-averse in allowing in person gatherings, and thus we were not able to hold a traditional event. We are trying to raise $200,000 in total, and so far we have raised just over $50,000 through larger sponsorships. The next phase of the campaign is to move to “small ball” donations from personal networks. All money raised from the Bright Night Benefit: Crowdfund for Comer Children’s will fund critical patient care programs that would not be possible but for this funding. Examples include NuRoo’s provided to new mothers, Art Therapy for patients in hospital for a long term stay, and most poignantly, bereavement support for grieving families. None of these types of programs are typically funded by private insurance or government funded reimbursement.
We hope you agree that all children deserve these types of programs when faced with medical challenges, just like you would expect this type of care for your own family. Please join us in supporting this fundraiser. Thank you in advance for your support!
