Honoring Lee Wolfson

Dear friends and family,
Our beloved husband and father, Lee Wolfson, battled renal cell cancer courageously for nearly 4 years. His positive outlook, strong resolve and absolute passion for his family and friends fueled him through this difficult journey.
We are hosting the fourth annual TEAMLEE 997 Walk|Run in memory of Lee Wolfson for Renal Cell Cancer awareness. The event, hosted by our entire family to show our gratitude for the excellent care and medical expertise of Lee’s oncologist, Dr. Walter Stadler.
EVENT INFORMATION:

10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Turnbull Woods Cook County Forest Preserve (Glencoe)
Because Lee always gave his complete and full attention to everyone and every endeavor, it is now our turn to carry on Lee’s legacy of love and passion by supporting the research effort at the University of Chicago Medicine.
Throughout the past three walks, we have raised over $72,000 in support of Dr. Stadler and his team’s research. We are grateful to each of you for your part in helping us fund this critical work. We hope to continue our efforts supporting Dr. Stadler’s mentee, Dr. Jonathan Trujillo, who has officially joined the full-time faculty of UChicago Medicine researching kidney and prostate cancers.
We invite you to help us support renal cell cancer research at UChicago Medicine by donating to our website. and attending the event ($25 suggested donation for attendees). Even if you are not able to attend the event, you can support this important work and help us continue Lee’s legacy.
About the research: Dr. Stadler, in collaboration with colleagues in the laboratory and other disciplines, works on developing novel therapies and biomarkers for predicting response to various anti-cancer therapies as well as addressing novel approaches to impact cost of cancer care. He also uses his breadth of knowledge and leadership to develop and support a team of faculty devoted to renal cell cancer and other genitourinary cancers. Your generous donation helps accelerate this vital research, shortening the time between insight and discovery, discovery and treatment.
Dr. Stadler’s mentee, Jonathan Trujillo, MD, has innovative ideas that he is examining in both the clinic and the lab. Dr. Trujillo is trying to fundamentally figure out why some people are more responsive to certain existing immunotherapy treatments, and why others are not. This is all aspiring to enhance what therapies we can offer and target treatments more effectively. He has established a project, which needs further funding, that is working to determine which patients will respond best to different treatments so that therapies can be tailored to be most efficient and effective.
The support that we can offer has the potential to fuel Dr. Trujillo’s research as seed funding. By supporting this early research, we can help Dr. Trujillo establish the data and basis to apply for national funding from the NIH. Our support will go toward everything involved in his work, from supplying basic materials to helping hire new staff members.
Please help us honor Lee’s memory by supporting the innovative research efforts that will help in the fight against renal cell cancer.
Many thanks!
With gratitude and love,
Naomi, Josh, and Danny Wolfson
