TM Giving 2024 Chicago - Gwen Knapp Center
At the University of Chicago Medicine, the Gwen Knapp Center for Lupus and Immunology Research drives innovation at the leading-edge of medical research, where expert researchers and physicians make strides to impact the disease outcomes for thousands of patients. The Center raises awareness and philanthropy to help patients who may benefit from discoveries made in our research laboratories. Our targeted efforts focus on helping improve the quality of life for patients suffering from lupus and other autoimmune diseases, like inflammatory bowel disease, type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and others in which the body’s immune system goes inexplicably on the attack. The Center also aims at improving outcomes for patients who have needed a transplant. Clinical and experimental advances lead to developing “best practices”, novel treatments, and disease management to improve the health and quality of life of autoimmune and transplant patients.
